Captain picks had taken a break for game week 12 and 13 but we are back for game week 14, meaning we do not have a report on last week’s predictions. But the now normal trend continued with the most transferred-in player, Paul Pogba, failing to produce returns and the most captained player, Romelu Lukaku, blanking as well.
Game week 14 starts on Tuesday, meaning we need to sort our teams quickly. New fpl managers think this is a double game week, it is not. When the double game week comes around, we’ll be sure to let you know with an insightful article on how to maximize on it. So be sure to subscribe to this blog and always refer to it before game week deadline.
On to this week’s captain picks, I have this feeling our picks will be a success, let’s do this.
1. MOHAMED SALAH £9.7.
Mohamed Salah is changing the definition of a goal scoring winger, he now tops the premier league goal scoring charts with 10 league goals. Salah has scored 10 of Liverpool’s 25 league goals, which is 40% of Jürgen Klopp’s goal machine. Salah has been so good and he probably is going to be the first fpl player to score 100 points this season. His price has gone up from 9.0 at the start of the season to 9.7, now sitting 46.5% of fpl teams, overtaking Lukaku as fpl most owned fpl player.
Mo Salah has only failed to score or assist in 4 games this season, making him the safest captain pick in the game. He is second in the premier league for shots per game (3.8 shots), rounding it all up with 5 goals in the last 3 games, much to the joy of the managers who trusted him with the arm band.
Stoke City have been traditionally known for their defensive resilience, but this season has just been a nightmare for Mark Hughes boys, they are the 2nd poorest team defensively in the league this season, they’ve conceded 26 goals.
Stoke shipped in 7 goals against Manchester City and against a Liverpool side who have scored the league’s third highest goals, you would not be out of your mind to expect Salah to reward your faith in him.
2. HARRY KANE £12.8.
Harry Kane has mainly failed to inspire confidence from his owners this season. Personally, I am not harry Kane’s biggest fan but I do recognize the explosive potential the English man offers.
Kane has scored in only 5 games this season, yet he boasts 74 points so far, a testament to how explosive he is when he finds the net, scoring 4 double figures in the 5 games he’s scored in.
I include Harry Kane here majorly because this is the fixture that he scored 4 goals and had an assist in in the final game of last season. According to whoscored.com, Kane boasts a supreme Shots per game record (6 shots), only second to Christiano Ronaldo (6.9 shots) in top European 5 competitions.
Kane has not been at the top of his game since returning from a minor injury, it was evident in his game against Arsenal, against West Brom, he looked sharp despite scoring only a single goal. Kane took 8 shots in their game against the Baggies and was whoscored.com man of the match with a rating of 8.19, I am looking forward to an explosive output against a Leicester defense that has conceded a 5th highest 19 league goals.
3. ALVARO MORATA £10.6.
The Spaniard has been impressive since joining the champions from Real Madrid in the summer. Being one of the only 2 players to score an Epl hatrick this season. His ruthlessness in the opponents final third has given many defenders ‘’a bad day in office’’, resulting in the 12 goals and assist he has provided this season.
Chelsea will begin a sweet run of fixtures when they host Swansea City on Wednesday at the Stamford Bridge. Captaining Morata may pay off because the Spain international is expected to torment the Swansea defenders with his direct running and aerial threat.
Morata boasts a good conversion rate, no wonder he is the second most productive fpl forward with 74 points.
Alvaro has scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists since joining Chelsea from real Madrid.
4. ALEXANDER LACAZZETE £10.3.
Both Arsenal and their summer signing Alexandre Lacazette have been on fine form when playing at the Emirates stadium. Arsenal has collected all the 18 points from 6 games at home, with the former Lyon man scoring 5 times from 6 Emirates appearances.
The Arsenal striker should have all the confidence he needs at home in front of his fans, finding the back of the net should not be a problem as they entertain the premier league new boys Huddersfield. Lacazette has 6 goals and one assist in the league since joining the gunners in the summer for a club record fee.
Huddersfield have been punching above their weight in the league, especially beating Manchester United and giving the high flying Manchester City trouble.
The Frenchman has completed 90 minutes only once this season, but if he gets to start this game, he will be a favorite for any goal scored by the gunners.
These are our best candidates for the arm band, best of luck managers, may your arrows be green.
